Savoy combines 400-thread-count Egyptian cotton percale with fine cording and Portuguese manufacture.

Compare its detailing with the £50 Essentials cover. Higher thread count alone does not prove a worthwhile improvement; choose the finish if you value it.

The 600-thread-count cotton sateen is made in Portugal and offers a different finish from percale.
The Velquies Value Test
Thread count and manufacturing describe the product; they do not establish superior durability or comfort. A lower-cost Dorma challenger remains under consideration.
Worth knowing
- The £66 Dorma Honey double differs in colour and was unavailable when checked; there is no proven performance advantage for either cover.

The White double duvet cover uses 200-thread-count Egyptian cotton percale and is made in India.

Start here if straightforward percale meets your needs. Savoy costs more for the same category of fabric; the extra spend should buy a finish you specifically prefer.

Why it made The Edit
The selected cover uses 22-momme mulberry silk with an Ivory finish and Charcoal piping.

Its material and design must be worth the cost and care to you; we make no skin or sleep-benefit claim.
Worth knowing
- Delicate wash below 30°C with suitable detergent; line dry in shade, no tumble drying.
- The stated returns require unused, unwashed and unopened goods; this is not an in-use sleep trial.
The sateen challenger: Dorma
Dorma's 500-thread-count cotton-sateen Honey double was £66 when checked — £53 less than Secret Linen's White double. It has a zip fastening, and Dunelm lists a ten-year guarantee. At the check, the Honey double was unavailable for home delivery and collection; Cream offered only Kingsize in the selector.
It remains a challenger, not a sixth recommendation. Colour, availability and performance all matter, so there is no like-for-like verdict that either option is better.

Check the dimensions of your duvet and mattress before buying. Compare the total cost of a cover, pillowcases and a sheet with the correct depth.
Keep pieces that already work, and spend on the fabric or finishing detail you will notice and use.
